Frey has been a professional musician for over 17 years. He has been in bands ranging from rock, funk and metal but has found his home with reggae and with his brothers in arms the Blue Island Tribe. He began his musical career at the age of 14 when his parents bought him a drum set for his birthday. Later in life he bought a guitar and taught himself to play by writing an album under the pen name Oceans. Frey took music incredibly seriously and learned to play drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards but his true passion is vocals. "Sometimes I get so excited about playing live onstage, my soul feels like it wants to jump out of my body." Blue Island Tribe has become Frey's outlet and has been rocking out with them ever since. "I feel an incredible closeness to this band. We have done so much together I feel like this is less of a band and more of a Tribe."
